Game 1: York Cricket Club vs. Mahajana College CC
Result: York Cricket Club won by 107 runs
Toss: York Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat.
In an unfortunate and rather darkly comical twist, our stand-in umpire, Roy Nadar, found himself at the wrong end of a fielder’s throw. As fate would have it, the ball made an unexpected detour—right onto Roy’s unsuspecting head. The impact was enough to make you wonder if cricket helmets should be mandatory for umpires too! Roy, proving he's made of sterner stuff than a cricket ball, took it in stride, humorously playing up the moment for the camera, showing off his impressive acting skills with a pretend application of pressure to his head. Here’s a snapshot of Roy showcasing his Oscar-worthy performance:

York Cricket Club Innings: Our team set a competitive total of 209 for 8 in 40 overs against Mahajana College CC. Despite a shaky start, key contributions from Pratha Sawant, Dominic Dumenil, and Harry Shivs steadied the ship. We also had a helping hand from the opposition with a whopping 43 extras added to our total. Sometimes, it's not just skill but also a bit of luck that turns the tide in your favor—or in this case, turns a fielder’s arm into a bonus machine.
Key Batting Performances:
Pratha Sawant: 30 runs off 39 balls, including 3 boundaries and a six.
Dominic Dumenil: Kept the innings afloat with a solid 46 from 62 balls.
Harry Shivs: Added a brisk 30 runs off 33 balls, ensuring momentum.
Mahajana College CC Innings: Mahajana College CC’s chase fell apart quicker than Roy’s grip on reality post-head knock. Our bowlers were relentless, led by Rafi Mohamed’s lethal spell of 3 wickets for just 7 runs. The rest of the bowlers kept up the pressure, and Mahajana College CC crumbled to 102 all out in 25.4 overs, handing us a 107-run victory.
Key Bowling Performances:
Rafi Mohamed: Annihilated the opposition with 3 wickets for 7 runs.
Harry Shivs: Contributed with 2 crucial wickets for 11 runs.
Echi Fernando: Got 2 early wickets for 9 runs, setting the tone.

Game 2: York Cricket Club vs. Nightwatchmen CC
Result: York Cricket Club won by 53 runs
Toss: Nightwatchmen CC won the toss and elected to bowl.
York Cricket Club Innings: Batting first, York Cricket Club racked up a formidable 224 for 6 in 40 overs. Pradap Devaraj was the star of the show, nearly scoring a century with a powerful 95 off 100 balls, including 6 boundaries and 6 sixes. Jayantha Abeyesekera’s steady 26 off 79 balls and Sathishraj Mohanraj’s quick 21 off 20 balls added crucial runs. This was a classic display of both power and precision—something that Nightwatchmen CC couldn’t quite handle.
Key Batting Performances:
Pradap Devaraj: Smashed 95 off 100 balls, just shy of a century.
Jayantha Abeyesekera: Provided stability with his 26 runs.
Sathishraj Mohanraj: Quickfire 21 runs to boost the total.
Nightwatchmen CC Innings: Nightwatchmen CC faced a series of unfortunate events that left them reeling. With a top-order collapse and a middle-order that struggled to keep up, they were bowled out for 171 in 39.1 overs. Kaushik Jay was the wrecker-in-chief with 4 wickets for 12 runs, while Rafi Mohamed and Echi Fernando continued their good form with 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Despite a valiant 81 from Martin Skyes, Nightwatchmen CC’s innings ended with a whimper, much like Roy's dignity after the head bonk.
Key Bowling Performances:
Kaushik Jay: Scythed through the top order with 4 wickets for 12 runs.
Rafi Mohamed: Consistently good with 3 wickets for 38 runs.
Echi Fernando: Bagged 2 wickets for 40 runs, contributing significantly.
York Cricket Club Bowling:
Total: 171 all out in 39.1 overs
Run Rate: 4.37 RPO
