Saturday: YCC vs Ramblers CC

Result: YCC won by 19 runs

YCC’s top order continued their season-long hobby of experimenting with collapses, and Saturday was no exception. At 64 for 8, things looked grim — like "what's for tea?" level grim. But in strode Venkat, and with him, a textbook display of calm under pressure.

Venkat’s unbeaten 49 wasn’t just match-saving; it was match-winning. His shot selection, composure, and smart singles turned the tide. Shawn, backing him up with a counterpunching 28, made it a genuine partnership — worth 80+ runs for the final two wickets, flipping the momentum entirely.

With 142 on the board, YCC’s bowlers turned up the heat. Pressure mounted, Ramblers stuttered, and wickets fell just when they threatened to push ahead. A collective bowling effort—no standout stat lines, just execution—wrapped up a hard-fought 19-run victory to kick off the weekend.

Sunday: YCC vs Mahajana College OBA

Result: YCC won by 6 wickets

This one began with a bang — or more accurately, a Thaya thunderbolt. He struck early (and often), finishing with 3 for 10 in a menacing spell that cracked open Mahajana’s top order.

Tibish wasn’t to be left out — he nailed 3 wickets of his own, including a double-strike that shut down the middle overs like slamming a vault door. And despite 17 wides, the rest of the attack chipped in tidily, wrapping Mahajana up for 92.

The chase? Patchy, at best. There were enough hiccups to keep the iced tea undisturbed, but Harry brought the fireworks, smashing 30 off 14 with three towering sixes.

The rest? Stumbled, rotated, retired. But eventually, Rafi’s steady 9 not out iced the game and sealed the win.

Up Next: Circle Your Calendars

The third clash of the season against Ramblers CC comes up this Saturday. With YCC already winning both previous encounters, Ramblers will be desperate to turn the tide. But if momentum counts for anything, YCC will back themselves to make it three on the trot.

Then on July 2nd, it’s a rematch against Old Bais CC — another team YCC got the better of earlier in the season. They’ll be seeking payback, but our boys will be just as hungry to keep the win streak going.
