In another thrilling chapter of York Cricket Club’s 2025 campaign, Saturday’s encounter against Ramblers CC turned out to be a true high-scoring nail-biter. Batting first after losing the toss, YCC 2025 posted a formidable 242 in their allotted 40 overs, thanks to a century of pure class from the in-form Harry Shivs, who led from the front and anchored the innings masterfully.

Batting Highlights
YCC's top order had a shaky start, with Mohan Perera and Sri Krishnan departing early. Sathishraj contributed a quick 6 before being run out, and by the time Shawn Rankothgedra fell for a gritty 25, YCC were in a spot of bother at 144/4. But Harry had other ideas.
Coming in at a crucial juncture, Harry shifted gears from consolidation to domination. He took on all bowlers with poise and power, peppering the field with 4 boundaries and 4 sixes, en route to a spectacular 102 off just 81 balls. It was his first ton of the 2025 season and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Supporting Harry was Tibish Mathew, who lit up the final overs with a stunning 46 off 26, including three sixes that turned the tide firmly toward YCC. Together, they added 71 in a late surge that lifted the team to 242.
Bowling Summary
With 242 on the board, YCC bowlers had a challenging task against a strong Ramblers batting unit. Ramblers’ reply started solidly, reaching 64/1 and then 119/4, with Manpreet Singh anchoring the innings with a brilliant 100*. His clean hitting and calm approach brought the opposition close to the target.
But YCC’s bowlers struck in clusters when it mattered most.
Karuna Haran picked up two key wickets including the dangerous Yomesh.
Rohan Vanigasooriyar once again showed his knack for breakthroughs, ending with 2 for 25 in 8 miserly overs.
Tibish Mathew picked up a late wicket and held his nerve in the death overs despite a few lusty blows.
Shawn Rankothgedra chipped in with a wicket as well, dismissing Kamran Ansari just when things were getting tense.
The game was finally sealed in the 40th over with Ramblers CC finishing on 229/9, just 13 runs short of the target.

The Jerseys Have Landed (Finally)
After months of playing in kits that looked more “backyard bash” than “club classic,” the 2025 YCC jerseys have finally arrived—just in time for game #473. Printed in India, their journey to Toronto had more plot twists than a Tamil soap opera: factory hiccups, a DHL strike, and Shawn swearing he placed the order “a while ago”… which probably means last Tuesday. Either way, they’re here now, looking fresh, and ready to soak up sweat, grass stains, and glory. Better late than never, right?

Anyways..with this win, York Cricket Club 2025 continues its strong mid-season form, notching another close win under pressure. The depth in batting, led by Harry’s majestic ton, and clutch bowling contributions, ensured the side crossed the line in what was one of the most entertaining matches this summer.
Next up is an away clash against Old Bais CC, who’ll be out for revenge after their earlier defeat—so the boys better keep those new jerseys lucky. Whether it’s the indoor nets, an international tour, or just another beautiful weekend of cricket, we can’t wait for the next chapter in this story.
Upwards and onwards, York!
