It was a whirlwind stretch for York Cricket Club in mid-August 2025—four matches in just over a week, packed with standout performances, big totals, and plenty of talking points. YCC came away with three commanding wins and one tough defeat, further underlining the team’s depth and character this season.

9 August 2025 – YCC 2025 Crush ICICI Bank CC with Bowling Firepower

YCC’s bowlers came out breathing fire. Harry Shivs (4/28) was in the thick of everything—mixing sharp bowling with clever variations—while Echi Fernando (4/42) attacked from the other end. ICICI Bank CC were bundled out for 146, their innings never really finding momentum.

The chase was handled with calm authority. Charan Ganapathy (44) and Sathishraj Mohanraj (45) set the tone at the top, before skipper Jayantha Abeyesekera (21)* sealed the deal. A 7-wicket win in 20 overs set the perfect start to the August run.

10 August 2025 – Run-Feast! YCC 2025 Outguns Old Bais CC in High-Scoring Showdown

If the previous day was about control, this one was all about fireworks. Kishore Kanna (68) and Harry (65) launched YCC off to a dream start, their partnership punishing every loose ball. Enter Pradap Devaraj (77 retired), who kept the run-rate galloping. The crowd was then treated to a short but explosive cameo from Lahiru Wijesinghe (36 off 15, with 3 sixes), taking the total to a towering 312/3 in 35 overs.

With ball in hand, Lahiru wasn’t done—his 4/23 ripped through Old Bais CC’s middle order. Echi and the rest of the attack applied the finishing touches to wrap up a 149-run win. A complete performance from start to finish.

16 August 2025 – Ramblers CC Edge Past YCC 2025 in a Run-Fest

This one turned into a run-fest, but unfortunately not in YCC’s favour. Ramblers CC piled on 350 in 40 overs, their batting line-up firing across the board. YCC’s chase started brightly with Stephen Williams (61 retired) timing the ball beautifully, and Pratha Sawant (63) matching stroke for stroke. Harry (40) kept the hopes alive, but the mountain proved too tall. YCC closed at 261/7, a spirited chase but ultimately a loss by 89 runs.

It was a reminder that even in-form sides get tested when facing such massive totals.

17 August 2025 – Ruthless YCC 2025 Demolish Lumberjacks CC

York’s bowlers bounced back with ruthless intent. Rafi Mohamed (4/2) delivered one of the spells of the season—fast, straight, and unplayable. Rajat Sinha (2/19) and Echi (2/43) joined in, shredding the batting line-up. Lumberjacks CC crumbled to just 91 all out.

The chase was never in doubt. Harry (28) and Pratha (17) guided YCC steadily, with the side wrapping it up at 93/4 in under 19 overs. A 6-wicket win that restored momentum immediately after the Ramblers match.

Three emphatic wins, one tough loss—that was YCC’s mid-August 2025 story. The stretch highlighted the squad’s depth: Harry’s all-round brilliance, Kishore’s anchoring, Pradap’s middle-order power, Lahiru’s double impact, Stephen and Pratha’s fluent stroke play, and Rafi’s devastating spell.

YCC showed it can dominate with bat and ball, but also that chasing down the really big ones will require every ounce of firepower. With performances like these across the squad, the green and red continue to march forward in style.

The action doesn’t stop—this weekend brings two more big fixtures for YCC 2025:

  • Saturday, 23 August 2025 – YCC 2025 vs East End CC

  • Sunday, 24 August 2025 – YCC 2025 vs GTA Mitron CC
