Saturday, Aug 23 – East End CC vs YCC 2025

Batting first, YCC were wobbling at 98/6, despite Gunasekaran Nagarajan’s steady 21 up the order. From there, skipper Rajit Kadirgamar (68 off 62)* led a spirited fightback. With support from Harry Shivs (44 off 33) and Raj Nallasivampillai (15), YCC clawed their way back, adding 122 runs in the final 19 overs to post a competitive 220 all out in 40 overs.

The chase, however, belonged to East End CC’s Darrel Desousa (97 off 49)**, who cleared the ropes at will and guided his side home with support from Glen Cardoza (38) and Aubrey (30). Despite wickets to Jerome Handapangoda (1/35) and Pradeep Nadarajah (1/43), YCC couldn’t halt the charge, as East End won by 8 wickets.

Sunday, Aug 24 – GTA Mitron CC vs YCC 2025

A day later, YCC bounced back in style. Bowling first, Rajat Kumar Sinha (4/17) tore through the top order with a fiery spell, ably backed by Chris Cooke (2/33), Karthik Nalubolu (2/25), and steady support from the rest. GTA Mitron, despite a valiant 57 from Pragnesh Patel and 46 from Yomesh, were restricted to 182 all out in 39.5 overs.

The chase was clinical. Harry Shivs (82 off 79)* was the star, striking boundaries with assurance, while Sri Paran (50 off 65) anchored the other end. Their 127-run stand ensured YCC coasted home with 8 wickets in hand, reaching 185/2 in 28.3 overs.

Post-match, a great moment was captured — Sri Paran getting one-on-one batting tips from our club’s senior star Stephen Williams. If history is anything to go by, YCC fans might want to clear some space in the scorebook for a big knock from Sri next game. No pressure, Sri — but we’ll be watching closely!

On a serious note, while Stephen happened to be the one in the photo, it’s worth giving credit to all our senior players who quietly share their wisdom with the juniors week after week. Their guidance — whether it’s about shot selection, bowling craft, or just the art of surviving YCC’s Sunday banter — is invaluable. These small moments off the field are a big part of what makes York a true cricket family!
